History of Bells Corners Community Yoga:
In the fall of 2011 Sandy Brown decided to share her knowledge of yoga by offering affordable classes in the Bells Corners Community. Sandy and her daughter Olivia posted the information around the neighbourhood. They each taught one class, Sun, and Thurs., respectively. When Olivia left for England on a teaching job, the administration and teaching of the classes became too much for one person to handle. A group of participants eager to keep the classes going, volunteered to take on the various jobs related to the coordination of the classes, such as advertising, contracts to secure the venue, collect fees, and manage the registration of participants. A non-registered not-for-profit entity was created in December, 2011. Known as Bells Corners Community Yoga (BCCY), it manages a growing yoga program for the Bells Corners community. With the hiring of experienced instructors, BCCY has become well known in the community, providing affordable yoga classes.
